1 Introduction

TripWire ("we," "our," or "us"), developed and operated by Aegis Logic Inc., is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our mobile application. We prioritize keeping your data on your device whenever possible and minimize data collection to what is strictly necessary for functionality.

2 Data We Collect

To provide the core functionality of detecting security events and generating reports, we may collect and process the following categories of data:

  • Image Data: We access your device's camera to capture images when specific security triggers (e.g., failed unlock attempts) are detected.
  • Location Data: To report precisely where a failed unlock event occurred and assist you in retrieving a lost device, the app utilizes your location. Users must explicitly grant background location permission to facilitate this background monitoring. Location data is stored locally on your device and is never recorded or tracked externally.
  • Device & Event Metadata: We collect technical details such as device model, name, timestamp of events, and battery level to generate accurate reports.
  • Contact Information: If you opt-in to email reporting (Premium feature), we collect your email address via Google Sign-In to deliver these alerts.
  • Crash & Performance Data: We use third-party tools to collect logs regarding app crashes and performance issues.

3 How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data for the following specific purposes:

  • App Functionality: To detect unauthorized access attempts and provide you with a comprehensive security record (image, location, and metadata) of the event to assist with device retrieval.
  • Communication: To send the requested security reports to your designated email address (for subscribed users).
  • Analytics: To understand how the app is used and to improve stability (e.g., fixing crashes).

4 Data Transmission and Retention

4.1 Local Storage (Default)

By default, all security reports, images, location logs, and metadata are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data.

4.2 Server Processing (Premium Users)

If you subscribe and enable email reporting, the image, location data, and event metadata are transmitted securely to our servers solely for the purpose of compiling and dispatching the email alert.

  • Transient Data Processing: Photos and location details are processed strictly in memory to attach them to the email report. No location or photo data is permanently stored or persisted on our servers; all such data is permanently discarded immediately after the email is dispatched.
  • Metadata: We may retain anonymized event statistics (e.g., time and success of the alert) to analyze service reliability.

5 Third-Party Services

We utilize the following third-party services which may collect data according to their own privacy policies:

  • Google Analytics for Firebase & Crashlytics: Collects usage data and crash logs to help us improve the app.
  • Google Play Services: Handles payment processing. We do not store or process your financial information directly.

6 User Account Deletion

If you create an account for email reporting, you have the right to request the deletion of your account and any associated metadata we hold. You may do so by contacting us at https://forms.gle/E83wXyZps3okpk3S8 or using the deletion option within the app settings.

This privacy policy is effective as of May 27, 2026.
